A bit odd this one, in look and some of the stories it seems like it is aimed at kids, then another couple of stories are not, definitely not young ones, anyway.

City Walks: Washington, D.C.: 50 Adventures on Foot Right now

We bought the LA ones for us when we moved here and I just bought the Washington DC ones for a friend that is being transferred there this summer! She has already gone through them with her family and can't wait to use them. They are fun and easy to use. I would definately use other ones as well!Get more detail about City Walks: Washington, D.C.: 50 Adventures on Foot.

Lowest Price Phantoms of the Card Table: Confessions of a Card Sharp

I could not put down this book. I read it at home, at my Son's swim meets, in the car and on my lunch break. I am an amateur magician and I bought this book for the sleight of hand teaching it contains. Instead, I was totally fascinated by the history presented therein on Dai Vernon, Walter Scott and Eddie McGuire. This is a must-read for those who want to quickly pick up the history of close-up magic and of the obsessive behavior of both the magician and the card cheats from whom they learn their craft.

Low Price The Relax Deck: 50 Meditations

I found this deck of cards at the salon I go to, when browsing through the stack of books they have there for the clients, while waiting for my husband to pick me up. Each card has an image on one side and some words of wisdom and meditation technique on the other side. Whenever you are feeling down or depressed you should pick out a card and just follow the instructions on it. That day, following the meditation technique on the card helped me to gain inner peace, much needed at the time. In addition to being of emotional support, those cards contain excellent techniques used for meditation, to bring your mind, body, and spirit to a perfect balance. It's both entertaining and helpful. I am going to get a deck of those for myself to own.Get more detail about The Relax Deck: 50 Meditations.

Save Massage Deck: 50 Soothing Massage Techniques

Cons: Wordy, Tiny-font size.

Pros: there's a lot I could learn from this 'Deck'. This is one 'deck' I might hang on to.Get more detail about Massage Deck: 50 Soothing Massage Techniques.

Discount Stacked Decks: The Art and History of Erotic Playing Cards

Who doesn't like girlie playing cards? Unfortunately most of these images look like they were done with a 20-year-old scanner from the thrift shop. Not even the moire patterns are removed with a few clicks of a cheap graphics program. What should be easy on the eyes, is hard on the eyes!! The book has the look of a Eastern European clothing catalog from the 1960s. And right now I feel SO sleazy.Get more detail about Stacked Decks: The Art and History of Erotic Playing Cards.

Cheapest Crows and Cards

Joseph Helgerson's Crows and Cards is an interesting coming of age book for pre-teens, a historical adventure that many in the 4th through 7th grade would find to be engaging. The setting is in 1849, and twelve-year-old Zeb Crabtree is sent to St. Louis by his blacksmith father to seek his fortune as a tanner's apprentice. On the way Zeb meets Chilly Larpenteur, a riverboat gambler, and his life and destiny are altered.

This tale seems to have a good representation of life along the Mississippi during that time, replete with riverboats, gambling and life in frontier St. Louis. It includes a freedom-seeking African American slave, along with a Native American girl and her father. The dialect may be a bit unfamiliar to the generations of today, but author Helgerson does a good job of providing us with resources to understand the dialogues.

This was a book picked up through Amazon Vine more for my son to read, one to share with him, as we often do. We both found the book to be engaging and a fairly easy read, but it lacks some of the depth that can be found in most of Mark Twain's books regarding that same era.

All in all it's an engaging 4-star tale, though perhaps a bit light for advanced readers in the 7th or 8th grade levels.Get more detail about Crows and Cards.

Cheap Cocktail Food Deck

I own a lot of cookbooks but this was my first food deck so I was not sure whether I would like it or if I would even use the recipe. My fear was that it might be gimmicky and produce food that was subpar or not entirely different from the recipes in the appetizer magazines and cookbooks I currently have. Lucky for me and my stomach I was wrong.

The first thing I noticed was how much I enjoyed the food deck concept over a cookbook. It made it enjoyable to browse recipes with friends, especially with the big color photos on one side of each card. The cards were also very user friendly to cook from. I find that cooking multiple recipes from one cookbook can be challenging because you constantly have to keep your places and if you are making more than one recipe at once, flip back and forth. There is also a chance you'll spill on the book. With these cards I can easily lay out the instructions for the recipes I am making and carry them around with me in the kitchen. This was especially helpful when a friend and I hosted a party this weekend as we were able to divide up the recipe cards we were using which was infinitely more helpful than sharing a book.

Best of all, the recipes work and are impressive. They are the perfect balance of not requiring too many steps, and yet still providing special touches and layered flavor combinations. Many recipes are 100% from scratch but if you wanted to you could easily take shortcuts to make them easier. Most ingredients can easily be found at the average grocery store, though some may require a trip to a specialty store for ingredients that could be kind of pricy or not be used every day. However, we found we were able to easily substitute ingredients in and out while still getting great flavor. One recipe, for example, called for creme fraƮche, but because we knew we wouldn't use very much of it we instead used sour cream and still were impressed by the flavors. So far our favorites have been the Spinach and Smoked Gouda Spheres, Miniature Tartlets with Walnut, Brie and Grape Salsa, Puff Pastry with Cremini Mushroom Filling, and Cornbread with Fig Tapenade. My vegetarian friend especially appreciated that there were a large selection of creative and delicious vegetarian appetizers to choose from as well as a couple of vegan options (though not the most exciting).

In addition, there is also a fold out sheet of tips and tricks for throwing a cocktail party which can be helpful if you've never hosted on before and need to understand the basics like how much alcohol to buy, how many appetizers to serve, etc.

Overall this is a great book full of diverse and appealing recipes you will actually make and enjoy.Get more detail about Cocktail Food Deck.

the "CHARLOTTE'S WEB" card isnt that pretty. It's decent (but not superior) quality
and a bit pricey considering the small size ... but with the promotion it's cheaper than elsewhere.

Where To Buy Myth and Romance: Notecards

These cards are quite lovely. Each picture is framed in a white border. The back & inside of the cards are also white. The title of the painting is printed on the back along with the year it was originally released. There are 16 cards in the set, each featuring a different painting: Tristram & Isolde, A Naiad, Ophelia (1889), Miranda-The Tempest, Thisbe, The Siren, Hylas And The Nymphs, The Shrine, The Lady Of Shalott (1888), Saint Cecilia, The Awakening Of Adonis, 'Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May,' Ophelia (1894), The Lady Of Shalott (1894), 'I Am Half Sick Of Shadows,' Said The Lady Of Shalott, Echo & Narcissus
The cards come with white envelopes in a very nice box that features the painting of Ophelia.
My only problem with the set is that there is only one of each painting. I would like to have had multiples of each, so that I could use one to write a letter on and save the other for framing or something.Get more detail about Myth and Romance: Notecards.

Shop For Star Wars:Aliens Creatures postcrds

These postcards really bring to life the realities of all the work and effort it took to design and create the universe. Trust me you won't be able to put the cards down until you have looked at them for the longest time. Allthough it is juicy it contains very little info on the charactes so I rated this book a 4 star on my list.Get more detail about Star Wars:Aliens Creatures postcrds.

Gangster Speak: 30 Movie Flashcards (Turner Classic Movies)

These cards have lingo from classic b/w gangster films on one side, and an explanation with a film still on the other. The cards also give the character's and star's names, the movie, the release date, and the director. Example: Button = Face with a still of of James Cagney smashing a half-grapefruit in Mae Clarke's face at the breakfast table. The box is nice, it has a ribbon to lift the cards out without forcing or bending them.Get more detail about Gangster Speak: 30 Movie Flashcards (Turner Classic Movies).

Wine Country Notecards (Deluxe Notecards) Review

Thea's work is so beautiful and has a wonderful dream-like quality. The panoramic format is used creatively and the handcoloring on each photo is done very well. Using infra-red film gives a much freer hand on using color on these prints. I would love to own all her books.Get more detail about Wine Country Notecards (Deluxe Notecards).
